Foundation Metaverse Europe Manifesto for a free, enlightened and human-centered education
Preamble
Education is the key to freedom.
In the age of digitalization, artificial intelligence and global challenges, we recognize the need to rethink education: not just as the transmission of knowledge, but as the awakening of awareness, responsibility and critical thinking.
The Education Metaverse Initiative is committed to being a platform where technology like XR and AI serve people – not replace or manipulate them.
Principles of our educational ethics
1. technology serves people
All developments in the educational metaverse initiative are geared towards the goal of promoting the individual freedom, dignity and creativity of learners.
2. education promotes critical thinking, not blind consumption
Learning means asking questions, questioning perspectives and developing independent judgment – not just memorizing facts.
3. global literacy is an integral part of all education
Every learning journey in the educational metaverse initiative strengthens the understanding of global connections: capital, technology, media power and ethical responsibility.
4. diversity is wealth, not a threat
Different cultures, perspectives and world views are respected, made visible and integrated into learning processes as an enrichment.
5. transparency creates trust
Content, algorithms and decision-making processes in the educational metaverse are comprehensible and open – for learners, teachers and partners.
6 Lifelong learning is a right for all
Access to education does not end with school or work. The Bildungsmetaverse initiative enables learning as a lifelong, self-determined path.
7 Ethics is not an add-on – it is the core
Technology decisions, learning modules and partnerships are always reviewed according to ethical criteria:
- Do they promote freedom?
- Do they serve the truth?
- Do they strengthen the human community?
8. learners are active creators
Learners are not passive consumers – they are co-creators and co-responsible for the development of the educational metaverse initiative.
